Festive Story-time and Craft with Elmer
13 November – 20 December/ EYFS and Key Stage 1/ £75 for 1.5 hours, am or pm for a class of up to 35 pupils/ Half price for groups of 15 or less
This winter, come along and hear the magical story of Elmer’s Christmas amongst our exhibition ‘Elmer & Friends: The Colourful World of David McKee’.
Explore the exhibition in small groups to view the beautiful illustrations of Elmer and enjoy dressing up, puzzles and sensory activities. Pupils will then decorate an Elmer Christmas card and follow our Elmer Christmas gift trail in the Winter Gardens.
Can be adapted for SEND pupils.
If groups wish to make a full day visit there are packed lunch spaces available. Please enquire when booking.
Unwrap the magic of Victorian Christmas: Explore, create and celebrate!
13 November – 20 December/ Key Stage 1 &2/ £75 for 1.5 hours, am or pm for a class of up to 35 pupils/ Half price for groups of 15 or less
Discover the magic of yuletide customs that took root and became popular during the Victorian era.
Join us to craft your own Victorian-style Christmas card and inscribe it with a heartwarming holiday poem.
Can be adapted for SEND pupils.

ARTS CENTRE WASHINGTON
Call for Entries – Bright Lights Youth Arts Exhibition 2024
Arts Centre Washington’s annual Youth Arts Exhibition is looking for submissions for Bright Lights 2024.
Supported by Sunderland Culture, Bright Lights will showcase some of the most exciting artwork by young people in Washington and the Greater Sunderland Area, and will be curated by The Celebrate Different Collective.
This is an exciting opportunity for 11-19 year olds to submit artwork for display in Arts Centre Washington’s professional gallery.
Deadline for submissions is Tuesday 16th January.
The Gingerbread Witch

Far away, beyond the snow, and nestled in a perfect nook you’ll find a town called Christmas with gingerbread houses glow and laughter hangs like baubles in the air! The happiest place on Earth. Or at least it used to be…
Buckle in for a rollercoaster of magic, music, and mayhem as our hero crash-lands in a crumbling town. Can they save the day?

NATIONAL GLASS CENTRE
Art and Science with Usworth Colliery Primary
This term we’ve been working with year three pupils from Usworth Colliery Primary School to explore similarities between Science and Art.
The pupils have been investigating a range of different art and science themes, using their skills of observation, investigation and questioning.
We look forward to continuing the fun after half term! This work will inform a new school offer which will be available in the new year.
NEW! Sculpture Workshop
January 2024 onwards/ KS2/ Suitable for years 5, 6 and 7/ £9 per child
From January 2024 we’ll be offering an exciting new workshop focusing on sculpture and 3D form.
This full day workshop will include gallery tours, discussions, and a range of fun creative activities.
Inspired by artworks in our current exhibitions, pupils will explore form and shape using different making processes and materials, and discuss their ideas.
