Sunderland Creative Forum
The first Sunderland Creative Forum took place on 4 October and was hosted by Ross Millard, Laura Brewis and Pop Recs.
The Forum was an opportunity to bring people together for a chance to talk, hear updates, meet and connect with existing and new colleagues and hear from some of the organisations in the city looking to connect with the creative sector over the next year.
There were updates about Future Walls with Sunderland Business Improvement District (BID), Reinvented with Friends, Theatre Space North East, King Ink, Sunderland City Council for Culture House and Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens redevelopment, The Cultural Spring for SunderLight, Jay Sykes Speed-Arting, Helen Schell and Stumble Inn.
Laura Brewis, Project Director of We Make Culture CIC, reflected “It’s been a pleasure to work with Sunderland Culture on the development of the Sunderland Creative Forum and bring together cultural organisations and practitioners from across the city to showcase plans and discuss challenges. The event’s success demonstrated just how much these sector wide opportunities are needed and I look forward to continuing in the future.”
Cllr John Price Sunderland City Council’s Cabinet Member for Vibrant City said “Bringing together the city’s many talented artists and creatives in this way demonstrates the true power of partnerships, what they can do, and how they can benefit our creatives, our city and its communities. We fully support the work of Sunderland Creative Forum and will continue to participate through the Cultural Compact to develop new opportunities that support and nurture creative talent in Sunderland.”
