Pupils will discover what different plants need to grow well, learn about what plant parts do and explore seeds, including the Coco-de-Mer, the largest seed in the world.
This 40 minute introduction is then followed by a Winter Gardens visit to explore different plants and seeds on a Ladybird Trail (KS1) or Growing Plants trail (KS2) and to plant their own seeds to grow back in the classroom. This session is 90 minutes long. A 60 minute session is available for teachers bringing three classes in a day.
Charges: £75 for a class of up to 35 pupils. Half price for groups of 15 or less.

Pupils will learn why our bones are important when they meet Professor Bonio, our replica human skeleton. Working in pairs the class will then investigate the differences and similarities in animal skeletons through examining real animal bones. Activities include naming bones, learning about joints and singing a bones song with actions. The session is 60 minutes long.

This teacher led resource will help the class to explore green plants and what they need to grow and stay healthy. The children can compare sizes of plants, and investigate different flowers, fruits and seeds. This resource is free but booking is essential.

Follow a droplet of water as it travels through the water cycle in an interactive 45-minute introduction. Find out how to save water in the home and at school. Using the Wonderful Water backpacks the class will then get to explore how water is used by plants, animals and people on a teacher-led activity trail through the Museum and Winter Gardens.

Come and find out about our local wildlife, including hares, hedgehogs, herring gulls and spiders. Discover the habitats they live in and some of the adaptations they have to their environment. Your class will then get the opportunity to use our amazing animal bags to investigate these different animals. The bags encourage exploration through movement, senses and role play.
This session has a 45 minute introduction by museum staff, which includes more creatures from the collections, followed by a teacher-led session with the animal bags.

Bring your class for an immersive dinosaur adventure with themed songs, stories, hat making and trails around the Winter Gardens to find dinosaurs and fossils. This session is 60 minutes long.
