ACEDIA – A contemporary pandemic story, told through movement and VR, depicts the loss of self during lockdown isolation fuelled by a palpable listlessness and undirected anxiety. Amidst this despair stemming from isolation and boredom, emerges a new sense of self; hopeful, optimistic, seeking possibilities and a new way of connecting to the world post pandemic. This digitally augmented performance, from award-winning Southpaw Dance Company, fuses innovative technology with live performance.
ACEDIA was performed live in August 2021 in The Athanaeum; one live dancer was accompanied by many virtual dancers, viewed through iPads.
Club 620 – A new immersive live arts club night from theatre company, The Six Twenty, celebrating raw local talent, created by a crack team of independent artists, musicians and technicians.
In August 2021, this fun and fabulous neon playground of live music, performance and digital art took over Independent Sunderland, serving banging live music from the likes of MXYM and PICNIC, DJ sets, pop-up aerial performance, art/film installations and plenty of surprises. You can relive this fun and fabulous night by checking out our Club 620 photo gallery and by playing and interacting with digital artist Ronan Devlin’s digital wall, just like club goers did on the night.
